What is Jin Shin Jyutsu?
Jin Shin Jyutsu (pronounced “jin-shin-jitsu”) is a powerful healing art that offers practical tools for the aches, pains, wear and tear and physical challenges of today’s world.
It is a hands-on healing system that bears some similarity to acupressure. It involves deep contact with the body (which remains fully clothed all through the session).
Jin Shin Jyutsu employs twenty-six "safety energy locks" along energy pathways that feed life into our bodies. When one or more of the paths becomes blocked, the resulting stagnation can disrupt the local area and eventually disharmonise the complete path of energy flow. Holding these energy locks in combination can bring balance to mind, body, and spirit.
Jin Shin Jyutsu can be applied as self-help and also by a trained practitioner. It does not involve massage, manipulation of muscles, or use of drugs or substances. It is a gentle Art, practised by placing the fingertips (over clothing) on designated safety energy locks, to harmonise and restore the energy flow. This facilitates the reduction of tension and stress which accumulate through normal daily living.
For those of us addressing existing stress or health disharmonies, or for those simply wishing to participate actively in maintaining health, harmony and well-being, the Art of Jin Shin Jyutsu is a simple and powerful tool, available to all.
How could Jin Shin Jyutsu help you?
What happens during a Jin Shin Jyutsu treatment?
We begin with an initial consultation which lasts 90 minutes during which we will gain an overview of your health history and medical treatments. We might discuss diet and sleep patterns, and your overall well-being and level of self-care. The fee for this first meeting is £65.
Subsequent sessions are an hour and the Jin Shin Jyutsu treatment typically lasts 50 minutes. You will be invited to lie fully-clothed on a healing table. I will sit or stand beside you and place my hands on various areas across the body based on my insight into what might be most helpful for you at this point.
People find that the treatment is deeply relaxing and many doze off, which is absolutely fine.
At the end of the treatment, I might offer you a glass of water while you return to the here and now and prepare to re-enter daily life.
If you are struggling with a health issue or recovering from an accident or injury or medical treatment, it can be supportive to have a series of treatments in quick succession. A cycle of five or ten treatments can be particularly helpful in supporting the body's recovery and creating change.

How to find me
My healing sessions take place in a quiet, private and comfortable room in the south side of Edinburgh. Here is a map to help you find me more easily.
As I am located in The Grange, between Marchmont, Bruntsfield and Morningside, it's very convenient for travel by bus and train. There are bus stops all around the area, and the number 5 bus stops right outside.
If you are coming by train, you can either take the number 5 bus from Waverley station; or you might prefer to stroll through The Meadows and up Marchmont Road to reach me. From Haymarket station, it's a slightly shorter walk, though you will be walking through lively areas such as Lothian Road and Tollcross before you reach the beautiful greens of Bruntsfield Links.
If you would be arriving by car, you will find plenty of on-street paid parking as this is a very quiet area.
There are several delightful cafes just at the end of the road if you arrive early and want a bite to eat or a hot drink to refresh yourself.
